      Hello Zabbix HQ,

      Rather than try to give you the solution I think it required, may I please describe our problem and maybe you have a solution for it?

      Our Comware switches have multiple IP addresses, all within the same IP range (172.24.0.0/16 in our case.) All of them are contactable from the Zabbix server and we are unable to stop that via ACLs in the switches themselves.

      Each switch has one IP address that we designate its management IP and its DNS records signify that (the others are mostly linknets.) We wish to do discovery on that range, and add just the management IPs for monitoring within Zabbix.

      The management IP is defined as the IP address associated with the Loopback0 interface.

      For me to get to the IP address associated with the loopback interface involves the following process using snmpget and snmpwalk:

      Find the OID which has ifName Loopback0
      ----> IF-MIB::ifName.951 = STRING: LoopBack0

      Walk IP-MIB::ipAdEntIfIndex to find the OID with value given in the previous result
      ---->IP-MIB::ipAdEntIfIndex.172.24.81.2 = INTEGER: 951

      IMC has a tickbox for 'use the loopback address as the management IP', but so far I'm not sure how to replicate that in Zabbix.

      Is there anything that you can think of that will help our use case?
