We run a middle sized environment with 148713 items, load balanced (based on location) on 12 proxies with 500vps. The housekeeper runs every hour. We have seen that every two hours the housekeeper process runs on 100% for 10 - 60 minutes.

Can this be improved in any way that the housekeeper runs more frequently and deleting less items. It also would decrease the workload to the mysql database.
