The item preprocessing options added in ZBXNEXT-1443 will contain some generic preprocessing functionality. However it's impossible to predict and support all possible preprocessing requirements. To handle complicated preprocessing rules a new preprocessing option based on custom scripts must be added.
The scripts will be written in Lua. They will be defined in hosts (templates) and globally. Script storage, caching and lookup will be similar to user macros.
