Lot of companies are using some online tools for tracking the assets.
In Zabbix we can use ie "Asset tag field" - si we enter an item id (in our case integer, but can be probably a general string), so lets say "123".

But it very handy, if there can be a link. So yes, we can add full URL, like https://inventory.example.com/asset/123

This works, but much more better approach is the ability to add an URL mapping and in DB strore just the aset string, so 123.

Why?

• much smaller database / don't store redundand data
• easier to read - user can see just "123" but it can link to a full URL
• easy to change an URL - there should be just one place, where can user change an URL by a single link without a need to replace all records in DB

How?

• I think this could be really simple, like addind second columnf to inventory edit, ie "URL mapping", there can be some value like: https://inventory.example.com/asset/%value%

Notes:

• It would be really helpfull to allow to put this URL into the Map. Now I didn't found a way to put those inventory URLs into the map - coz I canaot use all the Macros in The URLs section
