Starting from Zabbix version 3.4.0 new preprocessing features was introduced.
On big installation (~15k NVPS) with a lots of calculated items (~1 million) we found, that preprocessing manager can process no more than 4k items/sec at 100% CPU core utilization, becoming the bottleneck of the whole system.
In this case more than one preprocessing manager required to process all load.
