When building a map in Zabbix, we would like to be able to select a bunch of hosts for inclusion in the map based on whether the host has a particular tag applied.

We've been using Zabbix since 1.8. We just recently upgraded from 3.0.x to 4.2.x. With the improvements to maps in recent versions, we would like to begin making more use of them. The problem for us is that our host groups aren't broken out by location/datacenter, so we can't use a host group on a map to "include all hosts in Datacenter B". Reorganizing our host groups so they're divided up by location would be quite a bit of work.

What would be much easier for us is if we could modify our templates, which in our case do indicate what datacenter a system is located in, so that the template for e.g. "Datacenter B" applies a tag to a host. That much is now supported in Zabbix.

The problem is that map element selection doesn't yet support selecting based on tags. If there were something in the map building UI similar to the "host group" type, but instead of including all hosts in a host group it included all hosts with a particular tag, that would be much easier for us.
