Many items do not need to be checked all that often, some only once a day or once a week.

However, if the result of a check is a trigger and thus a problem, an action may be executed, some steps of which may execute remote commands which will attempt to fix the problem.

In that case, there is need to check the offending items, in order that the problem may be "Resolved".

Hence the ability to have a Step perform a "Check Now" on one or more of the Items associated with the firing of the trigger would be very useful.
