Problem:
Setting a host to maintenance is way to difficult.
Repeating steps / to many steps
solution:
Make maintenance periods a choice and not required.
if someone does not fill in periods use the dat someone filled in by the active date.
or add a button if its a repeating task or not
or something like this old zabbix.org form post.
https://zabbix.org/wiki/Docs/simplify_ad_hoc_maintenance
2 examples
I know that my company is having a sceduled power outage tomorrow at 13:00 until 15:00.
Right now:
- name maintenance
- Fill in active since
- Fill in active till
- Add new Periods
- Select period type
- Select date
- Fill in Maintenance periot length
- Press add!
- Select host/host group/tags
- Press add
I think step 4 to 8 are unesesary for one time maintenance.
how i think it should be.
- Name maintenance
- Fill in active since
- Fill in active till
- Select host/host group/tags
- press add
And i know the second one is way less advanced for repeating tasks/maintenance.
But for non repeating maintenance it would be better.
