It would be nice to have a way to create a trigger based on an item that is not keeping any history.

Lets say there is a master item, that is not storing history, therefore nodata function would not be of help, if there is indeed no data coming in.

Currently, the workaround is to have a dependent item created that would collect minimum amount of information from the master item and a trigger would be based on that dependent item to notify if there is data missing, which is not a very elegant way to do it.
