    • 5.0.6
    • Agent (G)
    • None

      Steps to reproduce:

      1. Use agent key: agent.version to populate inventory
      2. Run agent - check version returned
      3. Stop agent
      4. Run agent2 - chcek version returned

      Result:
Both agents return the same version ie. 5.0.6, but no one knows if it is agent or agent2

      Expected:

If I'm using inventory to collect such information then I only get version ie. 5.0.6 But I want to know it is a 5.0.6 old agent or 5.0.6 new agent.

Maybe agent2 should return 5.0.6(v2) or something like that to know agent type from Zabbix.

Why it is important? Because both agents are different, ie. one agent have more item keys than other, one support particular key second not.

It will help manage agents. Now we can't make a report from inventory to know where new and where old agent is run.

If let's say new agent get important fix and we want to install this patch - we can't even estimate how many agents need update.
