Hi,
At the moment there is a trigger description only in the trigger definition and we use this in all our actions that generate notifications (ie email, SMS, incidents etc...)
What would be nice is to allow the user to configure 'Trigger Recovery Description' that could be used in recovery actions and 'Trigger Escalation Description' that could be used in escalation actions.
For a very simple example:
Trigger Description: "The event is a problem as the filesystem is at abnormal capacity as it is currently 99% used and above the threshold of 95%"
Trigger Recovery Description: "The event is resolved as the filesystem is at normal capacity as is it is currently 80% used and below the threshold of 95%"
We would use the "Trigger Description" in the initial email, incident creation and SMS, however we would use the 'Trigger Recovery Description' in the recovery email, incident auto close and recovery SMS.
The reason why the information is better placed in the trigger definition rather than action definitions is to avoid creating thousands of actions for specific cases which becomes unmanageable. This allows for a simple and consistent action definition utilising the trigger specific configuration which has to be done anyway when designing the triggers.
Cheers
James
