We are using Zabbix for monitoring unauthorized devices accessing our wireless network. This is done by manually assigning IP addresses for all known devices and using Zabbix network discovery for scanning the DHCP pool range. When an unknown device is detected, a notification message is sent. The problem is that the only reasonable identifier in this message is an IP address from DHCP pool, but that does not give any identification information about the device.
Also, if implemented, MAC address can also be used as uniqueness criteria for devices.
