In Zabbix we can configure LLD Discovery to create automatically a set of item, trigger and so on based on the return of a script.
The problem : if the script return an error, part of the monitoring based on the previously created resources are ko (if bug is : list of no element, it would delete previously created element / if the bug is : bad format or nothing : the new elements that would be created are not).
The fact that zabbix call a (LLD) 'discovery' script and have something not wanted should lead to an alert, the same way an item could raise an error with a 'NODATA' trigger or other expression.
When creating a LLD rule, it would be great to be able to activate if we want to monitor it :
- either by detecting pb of returning (bad format) / script error
- and if possible, variation in number of created items
This could be done for ex. by creating an item automatically for ex. , that would be : 'number of detected entities', that would count the number of entities returned by a LLD.
With this we would be able to use NODATA or min or other trigger function to implement error management on our LLD.
Kind regards,
