Currently, in Zabbix, when an action is disabled, all pending escalations associated with that action are canceled and a note "Escalation canceled: action [action name] disabled" appears. However, if the action is re-enabled, escalations for alerts that were not resolved while disabled are not resumed, nor are restore notifications triggered when the alert is resolved.
It is proposed that Zabbix maintains the state of previous alerts when the activity is disabled and automatically resumes escalation processes and triggers restore notifications for these alerts when the activity is re-enabled. This would provide continuous monitoring and response capabilities, increasing system reliability and speed of response to ongoing incidents.
