I see in the release notes that the templates also receive updates. But there is no automated way to update these templates.

I suggest the updated templates must be published in a concatenated form (JSON, YAML, XML), so they can all be imported into the LTS versions of Zabbix in one pass. This will ensure that all updates have been applied.
