      Hello,

I would like to share an idea that I believe could be quite beneficial. Many devices on a network do not utilize SNMP but do respond to pings via the ICMP protocol. While there are ICMP Ping Templates that facilitate ping monitoring, I think a native solution would be advantageous.

For instance, when we add a device with the Zabbix Agent, it displays a green ZBX icon when active and a red one when inactive. The same visual feedback occurs with SNMP. However, if we add a device using SNMP and apply an ICMP Ping Template, the SNMP icon remains gray.

My suggestion is to include ICMP in the list of interfaces. This would allow for built-in ping monitoring, where the ICMP status would show green when responsive and red when unresponsive, providing immediate visual feedback. The templates would then serve to complement the additional Zabbix functions.

Visually, this enhancement would be very appealing. Currently, when we monitor a device solely via ping and the SNMP icon is gray, it can give the impression of an issue. Having an ICMP icon that turns green and red would significantly improve clarity.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.

      Best regards,
