On swtich monitoring, we have template with discover to create item interface :

And specifically the Operational status :

On this item we have the SNMP OID.

When switch sending a linkDown or linkUp SNMP trap, I expect this item to be updated to trigger the associated trigger if necessary.

In this case, it does not seem interesting to me to have a different item with its own trigger.
