Given the complexity, importance, and spreading use of Zabbix I think a proper one-click frontend-based (and/or API) configuration import/export for all settings of the Zabbix server (templates, items, tiggers, actions, scripts, hosts, dashboards, server config files, ect.) is needed.
Currently, the way to backup a Zabbix server is done through the command line and requires gathering settings from /etc and the database. This method is not standardized and has many steps that can be improperly performed resulting in incomplete backups and failed restorations (if/when needed). Zabbix should strive to provide a seamless backup/restoration process for the user through a single pane.
This feature should be a page somewhere in the frontend (e.g. Adminstration->General->Backup/Restore) that will gather every setting that makes a Zabbix server instance different than the base installation, combine it into a single file (zip, tar, ect.) and allow the user to download it.
