Currently the maps user interface has some usability issues:

• navigating among maps list, map content, map properties and map constructor requires a lot of clicks and is not consistent with other frontend features (i.e. dashboards)
• the map constructor is hard to use: buttons and links don't follow any well-known UI standards. New users usually find it unhandy.

Here are some possible improvements:

1) The All maps list should only contain a list of Map names, without Properties and Edit links. The map list should display sharing labels, like the dashboards list does. (see mockup-01.png)

2) Clicking on a map should open the map in display mode. There, a link to Edit the map (constructor) and a link to set map Properties should be provided. Changing the map Properties will take the user back to the map visualization to evaluate results, without the need to go back to the maps list. An actions menu will also provide Share, Clone and Delete functionalities. (see mockup-02.png)

3) The constructor toolbar could be reworked by using drop down menus. On/off labels could be renamed to make them easier to understand. Buttons for Save, Save and Close and Properties could be provided (see mockup-03.png)

Other minor improvements:

4) Add a confirmation dialog before leaving Map constructor (ZBXNEXT-9641)

5) Replace term "constructor" with "map builder" or "map editor" (in English a "constructor" is a person or company that builds things, especially cars or aircraft).

6) Replace "Network maps" title with the more general term "Maps", in the frontend and in the documentation.
