The final goal would be a dashboard where we can provide out users with the flexibility to view standard details for a group of servers or an individual server.

Consider an Application support team that wants two views, one that shows overall metrics similar to what we see in the top hosts widget including, CPU, Memory, Max Disk I/o, availability, uptime etc. but just the numbers as viewing graphs for all of these especially for more than 10 hosts could be difficult.

At the same time, another page in the dashboard that shows only individual server metrics like past 1 day of CPU/Memory/Disk graphs, Certain log items for that host etc.

Currently we can create this for one team with the Host type of dashboard and host group specific to this app but there are teams that support multiple apps in a region. At present, we either need to create a new Dashboard for each app or train the team to edit every widget to use a different host group.

With a dashboard level host group filter, we could generalize this and just ask the team to input and select a host group for the dashboard and everything else will automatically use that.

We already have a few requests for such use cases so this isn’t really just theoretical.

Please let me know if this makes sense or if you need further details. I wanted to provide some details on the ticket in case you had a chance to talk to the team internally before our call and they had any other queries around this as well.
