 Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create (parent) template with an item, e.g. HTTP agent, with update interval e.g. 5m and "do not keep history" set.
  2. Create other template and link parent template (make it child).
  3. Assign child template to host.
  4. Try to change update interval e.g. to 1m and storage period e.g. 90d on child template level and also on host level.

Result:
In both cases, output is green, "Item updated" without any error, but after reopening that inherited item, nothing is changed.
Expected:
Change of inherited item to be persistent, when UI allows to change that fields.

maybe related to https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-19201?

Thank you for reporting the issue.

I cannot reproduce the issue. While assigning parent or child template to host, at a host level, it always allows installing an exception per "Update interval" or "History storage period" and the exception is truly saved. Did not test with full TimescaleDB setup though as it's mentioned ZBX-19201, maybe that is related.

Would you mind playing the same scenario on a stock 5.4.3 appliance? I have a feeling the DB consistency is not good.

Hello Aigars Kakidis, we have these 5.4.3 instances:

  • MySQL setup from 5.0 appliance, recently updated to 5.4.3
  • TimescaleDB setup originally installed as 5.2, recently updated to 5.4.3

I tried it now on both instances and described behaviour is present on both.

But I am sorry, it is not HTTP agent, but Script item with chained HTTP requests in the code.

This issue is not super-critical, I just wanted to let you know, but if you mind, we can do e.g. Skype session and I can show it. (I could also screenshot or template export, but there is some potentially sensitive information for this public Jira.)

In fact, it is the same item as having another issue here: https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-19802, maybe it is somehow related.

Kindly reproduce by using LTS release.
