 Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a Template
  2. Create HTTP agent item to request data from an API
  3. Press the "TEST" button in the item creation menu
  4. Choose the option proxy and choose a proxy
  5. Press TEST

Result:
80% of the time the test fails with the following error:

Cannot read the response, check connection with the Zabbix server "{ZBXSERVER}".

Expected:
Return the data from the HTTP URL

Extra info:
**

  • Connection to the HTTP URL from the proxy is allowed by the firewall
  • All necessary ports from the proxy to the server are active

This issue is only occurring while preforming an item test, when checking the data from latest data on a host where the template with the HTTP agent item is activated, everything working as expect.

Please specify the version of Zabbix you are using. Do all components (zabbix_server, zabbix_proxy, frontend) have the same version?
You mentioned that the item receives a value from the API. Is this the Zabbix API?

Our Zabbix version is 7.0.8. All components have the same version.

We just upgrade to version 7.0.9 and the issue still persist.

Not the Zabbix API but some external tool, but it doesn't matter what HTTP endpoint you send a request to.

The same issue occurs when sending request to www.google.com

This error occurs when the frontend does not receive a response from the Zabbix server.

Increase the debug level for the "trapper" process using a runtime command and check the server log file for any errors.

zabbix_server -R log_level_increase=trapper

I increased the log level on the server.

There are no errors found after executing the test.

What value do you have set for the "Item test" parameter on the Administration → General → Timeouts page?

Try increasing it if it is too low.

It looks like your issue is a duplicate of ZBX-25796.

The timeout solved the issue!

Thanks for the help, this issue can be closed
