 Description   

the initial idea comes from web monitoring useragent issue ZBXNEXT-1821.
a new macro/variable {ZABBIX.VERSION} could be introduced and, among other places, supported in the user agent string in web monitoring.

other useful places :

  • notifications
  • map labels
  • more ?

one issue could be different versions - frontend, server, proxies...
maybe long term server and proxy versions (last known) could be stored in the db, and macros/variables like {ZABBIX.VERSION.SERVER}, {ZABBIX.VERSION.FRONTEND}, {ZABBIX.VERSION.PROXY} could be used ?

similar - ZBXNEXT-2794 asks for zabbix server name macro/variable

I recall a feature request (maybe as a just comment) where server would store its version/revision and compiled in features to database and this information then would be displayed in zabbix frontend in System status widget or so.
Cannot find it currently.
