summary :

  • zabbix 2.4 was fairly compact and allowed to display reasonable amount of useful information on screen
  • initial versions of zabbix 3.0 used the screen estate in a much less optimised fashon
  • ZBX-10504 improved this situation, but didn't really get back the compact look, screen space is still wasted without a good reason here and there

ZBXNEXT-3502 has a proof of concept patch + css to improve the situation

if there is a desire to keep the "more spaced-out" versions, they could be called "<theme name> spaced-out", or the compact versions could be called "<theme name> compact"
