Steps to reproduce:

1. Navigate to Items mass update form;
2. Check "Add new or existing applications" to make multiselect visible;
3. Enter any of following (without quotes):

• "("
• " ("
• "(new)"
• " )"

Result:
see that instead of highlighting the matching part of application name, multiselect is coloring matching part in text "(new)":

Expected:
(new) or it's parts shouldn't be colored.
