I'm looking for a possible function in a trigger that can perform counting metrics.
Specifically, how many times an item has incremented, changed, whatever over T (time).
If this is not possible now, I'd like to request that.
Another possible solution to this would to be having a trigger or action type that could alter an ITEM (value stored).
This would make it possible, using existing zabbix DB infrastructure. To easily do simple AND massively complex trigger expressions and counters to basically monitor anything.
I hope I'm explaining correctly. I basically mean the following:
1) A function that can determine item value counters
2) An event type or action that can perform a change to a ITEM VALUE
#2 being much more powerful in allowing chaining together and storing data. This could also be a simple fix for many of the other feature requests (e.g. custom inventory fields, etc.) As it'd basically let us use zabbix as a trending database store and allow many many things which are currently userparameters to be made into trigger expressions, evalutation and actions.
Bringing power and normal users back into the UI.
