On Zabbix Summit 18 it was explained that the view in Monitoring->Problems is no longer live generated, but at the first generation of an event, rendering ITEM.LASTVALUE1 useless as a live view. 

We used this in the past to have a live view of HDD values, memory values, CPU load etc. 

Please bring this back it’s a crucial feature for us and especially useful for Dashboard and Kiosk mode if you slide show your monitoring in the office on a TV. 

This topic was already broadly discussed in ZBXNEXT-4792 which resulted in a workaround which was introduced in Zabbix 4.0.3.

As stated by the Devs and Users of Zabbix, this is no final solution, hence we need a final fix for 4.2.x. For this reason I create this new ZBXNEXT item, to make it clear that we are happy to have a workaround, but make clear as Zabbix community, that this can't be the final solution.
