    Description

In parent-child template inheritance (linkage) hierarchies, when we do inherited trigger severity or description changes on child (or host) level, they persist only until respective parent trigger attributes are updated the very next time.

This is an issue in cases, when we need to change just parent=default (trigger severity or description), but without data loss from child configurations, which are all rewritten by the new default.

      Possibilities how to overcome this:

      • addition of new trigger attribute/checkbox: "ignore inherited severity changes" or "ignore inherited description changes", protecting child deviations from otherwise unavoidable reset according to parent,
      • but maybe also improved by: checking child modifications on parent update + displaying list of modified attributes in child templates before change + ability to enforce/choose which shall be overwritten and which shall keep their child modifications (pre-selected default from "ignore inherited" setting of respective trigger attribute, which may serve as default setting, overwrittable on every update of respective attribute in the parent
