 Description   

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a Proxy Group with multiple proxies
  2. Create an auto-registration rule using HostMetadata to assign new agents to host group
  3. Configure agent2 to use Proxy Group IPs and HostMetadata value.
  4. Start agent2

Result:
Host is auto-registered properly. When moved to a new host group or template is removed, host is re-registered by the auto-registration rule.
Expected:
System is auto-registered and will not be re-registered unless HostMetadata changes.

 

Thoughts:

With the fact that I never change the agent HostMetadata value, it appears that there is no reason auto-registration should be re-run. This does not occur when using a single proxy configuration.

My belief is the Proxy Group is re-running the auto-registration rule repeatedly because the server believes it's connecting through a new proxy each time.

There needs to be a fix to allow auto-registration through Proxy Groups without it continually updating the host.

But in step 2 I'm using a regex for HostName.

I'm also facing this issue using the C agent although HostMetaData is set to a static value. I also tried setting the SourceIP since the host got two interfaces (real IP and 127.0.0.1). But this also didn't solve it. So it must be a general issue with the proxy group feature.

Please solve this issue quickly since it prevents us from using proxy groups.

Why was this only fixed in 7.4 and 7.2, this is currently an issue in 7.0 that is causing problems.

It appears that in version 7.0.8, the problem still persists. In my case, when I attempt to switch from a proxy group to an individual proxy, the autoregistration process reverts it back to the proxy group.

Could you please clarify what did you mean with 'switch from a proxy group to an individual proxy' ?

Did you configure agent to connect o a proxy not in a group ? In this case host being re-registered to the original group is a bug.

Or did you change 'monitored by' of that host to be monitored by a proxy in that proxy group? In this case assigning host to the proxy group is intended behavior.

It should be fixed in 7.0.8 . Did you check that version?
